Today's Mighty Oak

Quick update tonight before I’m back tomorrow with a larger one, here’s what I have for you right now:

From Buzzfeed:

I feel as though I need this.  Because I do: a handy chart to tell you what produce is in season when.

This came up twice on my Facebook feed, and I love it:

Check out more, and I think those of us in PR should be posting this one more often:

And of course, The Onion Nails it: Republicans, Leukemia Team up to Repeal Health Care Law.

Okay one more:

I somehow lost a post from yesterday, I’m going to keep searching and see if I can find it.  I’m thinking I may have hit ‘cancel’ instead of ‘save’.  We’ll see if I can recover it.  Until then, check out this awesome billboard for The Dark Knight Rises:

This is pretty awesome, and it has changable heads, so you can keep the handle:

And this was floating around before, but I thought it was neat, the best excuse note ever:

Quick update for everyone, I”ll be back with much more very soon as well.

First up, this is just adorable, so if you’re having a bad day, prepare for it to turn around:

Stunning art made from plastic water bottles, you can see more pics here.

Also from Copyranter, an awesome ad for seatbelts and an incredible series for Child Abuse Awareness.  He also has a cool ad buy for an S&M shop, but no one in Pittsburgh would have seen these, you don’t hit the bottom of the ketchup bottle, you smack the ’57’ near the neck with the heel of your hand.

I never even thought of this, but of course, it’s amazing:

Slog has a great post, “Band Names that double as ways I would want to die.”  My favorite: Trampled by Turtles.

This chart is made from data collected this May (2012).  Sigh.

And finally from Nerdist and PBS, a primer on 8-bit art:

That’s it for now, be back soon!

I was able to sneak away from camp on our day off (don’t worry, I’m going back to work tonight), but wanted to get through some of the cool stuff I’ve seen go past in my RSS feeds.

First up, we won’t be able to see it again in our lifetime, but here is the Venus Transit:

Here are some pics as well, pretty awesome!

Scientists are hosting bake sales for NASA!  Not to raise money, but to raise awareness.  Pretty awesome, and sad.

Most likely set up, but a fun video with the Pine-Sol lady:

Awesome ad from Copywranter, being driven around Colorado this summer:

Hide and seek, from the perspective of a baby:

Amazing art of saints as superheroes.  Pretty cool.

A brief history of video games:

I’ll hopefully be back soon, have a great one!

Couple things for you today, let’s see what we have.

First up, did you ever want to read all the Chuck Lorre Productions cards at the end of the credits of his shows?  You can do that here!

A response to the Surprised Kitty meme of so long ago (in Internet years), but it’s fun:

Did you know you can use the Amazon app to do a quick home inventory?  Pretty awesome!  And your insurance company will be proud of you!

An artificial reef, made of statues of humans.  Haunting and beautiful.

And, in following yesterday’s post, cool lights (that remind you to make sure your pipes aren’t leaking):

Here’s how to make a working sundial for wherever you are!

In the mood to travel?  Try checking out Wanderfly to do all your planning at once.

That’s it for now, I’ll try to be back soon though!

Okay, a big update, finally really getting through a lot of old e-mails to myself, so let’s take a look.

First up, an awesome video of a lunar eclipse.  Check it out.

I’ve seen their stop-motion Tetris before, but never this video:

Want to make 3-D movies at home?  Lifehacker has you covered, but you need two identical cameras

I think I’m going to do this, I already have Twitter updated each day with a new background, so this would be nice to see as well on my desktop.

Awesome execution of an ad, and like he says, hopefully it works.

A strange site, but cool stuff.  I particularly enjoy the adjustable tables and the hoodie.

I think I’ve posted this before, but it’s really pretty.  Although I worry about removing the beer from the keg just to put into this system.

So, this is a real thing:

This seems just unnecessary.  Cats, let loose in IKEA.

Someone made CFLs look much better, I like them a lot:

Okay, that’s it for now, but I’ll be back again soon!

Quick update for everyone, I may or may not be back later today or tomorrow, I’m not sure, but let’s see what I have.

First up, yesterday was the celebration of the 75th anniversary of the Golden Gate Bridge, check out some awesome posters here, including my favorite:

I’m fairly certain that the Girl Scouts, if they wanted to, would be able to take over the world with this new product launch.  It’s like crack.

And finally, a new card game I’ll be downloading, I’m very excited to play this.

Okay, another quick update, let’s see what we have:

I don’t think this is such a great thing, everyone from Pittsburgh knows, just hit the “57” on the glass bottle:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=67H1eZBHiDQ

My friend Tom will be very happy to know this, you actually can be made into a diamond after you die.

And from copyranter, a movie put together my stock images from Getty:

Rufio, the character from Hook, is getting a movie!  At least I think I’m excited.

And lastly, the new song for the soundtrack of Snow White and the Huntsman from Florence + The Machine:

Quick update, let’s see what I have today for you all.

First up, this must have been very awkward, for so many reasons, I don’t think it could have been better planned on tv.

I’m really digging this awesome beervertising, although it should work with most amber and dark beers, not just Guinness:

Steven Colbert made Maxim’s list of 100 hottest women.  Yes, you read the correctly.  He once again used a write-in campaign to win.  Pretty awesome.

A good read about DOMA, and my favorite line:

How many live in the eight leastpopulated states? Less than 3 percent. Three percent — also known as the margin of error. (Which raises a terrifying scenario: It’s possible these states are completely empty.)

And from Copyranter, a cool ad for the torture museum:

That’s it for now, I’ll be back in a few days after the wedding festivities, until then, have a great one!

Real short update today, first up, did you know that the statues on Easter Island are probably entire bodies?  I had no idea!

And lastly, got this from Clintus.  And Darth Vader would totally win:
