I was all excited about the great outreach the Pope was doing, and then the Vatican reminded us all that Atheists are going to hell.

An idiot Idaho sheriff is dropping his BSA charter because “sodomy is against the law.”  While it is true that law is still on the books in Idaho, that law has been rendered void by the Supreme Court.

More about the Oregon bakery who won’t bake a cake for a lesbian wedding.  Their version of City Paper called and was able to order cakes for Pagan ceremonies, divorce parties and even stem cell/cloning celebrations.  The bakery claims it didn’t act with an anti-gay animus, just faith principles, but I’m not seeing it.

I spent Friday night watching the house floor of the Illinois legislature.  Their marriage equality bill failed, and this was the tearful ending of the night.  The bill however, in a surprise move, has been extended until August 31 by the Speaker, giving it a new chance.:

Apartment Therapy goes over how to disguise video games on a book shelf.  Seems like a lot of work, but I guess if you’re going for a certain look, go for it.

Yes, children should do their chores regardless, but I like this:

BuzzFeed features two bizarre ads for a Philadelphia ice cream company.  The best comment, “IT PUTS THE ICE CREAM ON ITS SKIN OR ELSE IT GETS THE HOSE AGAIN”

A hotel in England has replaced the Bibles in the rooms with…50 Shades of Grey.  An ingenious marketing stunt, I do have to say.

And Brandon Sanderson announced that he finished the final book (book 14) of The Wheel of Time.  There are still edits to do, but those will mostly be done by others.  It’s a great series, although I got distracted while in book 9, so I’ll be going back to get caught up.  I’m not sure what the status is of the rumored prequels and off shoots (three prequels and two off shoot trilogies), but I’m not really holding my breath.  Here’s the cover, and aside from “The Fires of Heaven,” it’s probably my favorite title in the series:

AHAHAHAHA: Some evangelicals are trying to boycott Google due to their support for marriage equality.  Good luck with that:

And speaking of marriage equality, at our triannual general convention, the Episcopal Church approved a blessing of same-sex couples.  There’s a lot of caveats to that, I’ll be putting up a post at Metblogs about it, so look for that.

When will news anchors learn that Bill Nye is smarter than you.  She asked him with such snark, it was nice to see him smack her down:
