Today's Mighty Oak

This is a shorter bit of writing tonight, but actually still quite productive.  I tend to e-mail myself lots of links and things, that inevitably pile up and I never look at.  So I’ve been making more of an effort to go through those as well.  I cleared out quite a bit tonight, some were work-related, others were notes for myself (many are also copies of all the e-mails I produce for work), but I found two things to share today.

First up, the cast of “Hello from the Magic Tavern” play Gauntlet!

And second, since I’m going to see The Hunchback of Notre Dame this weekend in York, here is a metal cover of “Hellfire.”  It’s already one of the darkest (if not the darkest) Disney animated movie, thanks to this song, but this is a neat take on it:

Real quick update, let’s see what we have today.

First up, The Tea Party doesn’t understand satire.  Or play video games, but probably not understanding basic concepts is the core problem here.

The future of Jell-O shots:

Also from 3D printers: human livers!  Good for after all those Jell-O shots….

Remember the gay soldier who got booed at the Republican debates?  Here’s a great, in-depth telling of his story.

That’s it for now, have a great one, and I’ll be back with more in 2014!

Alright, a quick update today, let’s see what we have.

First up, a salute to WoW:

Zachary Quinto has a new movie out, and it looks pretty awesome, especially for all the friends in my life who work weddings.

NPH is going to be playing Hedwig on Broadway, and I need to go and see that.  If you’re unfamiliar with “Hedwig and the Angry Inch,” it’s the love story only made possible by a back alley castration in East Berlin before the fall of the wall.  Seriously.

And America’s Best Christian, Betty Bowers is back:

That’s it for now, see, really short!  Have a great one!

Alright, let’s see what we have, first up, this amazing performance by the OSU marching band, the amount of cheering is awesome:

The Tom Hanks/Nerdist typewriter saga.

Since we can’t learn about his tax returns, we can instead, make stuff up.  Sounds legit.

And this is just asshatery at it’s finest.  Much like the owner of Papa John’s saying that if Obama is reelected he’ll have to raise pizza prices for his customers.

Angry Birds Star Wars is coming, and I’m excited.  Cautious, but excited:

PTSD is absolutely vicious, and the VA at best sometimes, seems incompetent.  Will this work, I’m not sure, but I hope it can at least bring some conversation to the table at the condition and how we can work together to support our veterans.

ManMade DIY has a flow chart on how to pick the perfect apple.

If it weren’t for all the tunnel construction (and my schedule), I would go to this play, looks pretty amazing!  And it’s done with Zunes!

I’m so glad that this is now a thing:

I don’t think it will work, sadly, but a valiant effort to have a reasonable conversation about gun violence.

This just confuses me, but I want to make one!

And if you haven’t read it, Chris Kluwe once again knocks it out of the park.  Or I guess I should use some sort of football analogy.

That’s it for now, but I’ll be back soon with more!

Couple things to pass on today, let’s see what I’ve found:

First up, FreddeGredde is back with a new compilation, this time of video game music:

Copyranter takes a look at the Polo logo in the future:

Maddow Blog takes on the argument that the federal budget is the same as a household budget.

And in her latest Random n’at, Ginny (today’s title comes from That’s Church) has the best fake album art ever (fake band too):

That’s it for today, have a great one!
