Compared to “Echo,” I think this was edited in a better manner and made for a better first episode, if a bit generic. Like the other of the first five aired episodes, this one seems to follow a “monster of the week” type of story, with very little grand arc (aside from possibly Ballard, although I don’t think they quite knew what to do with him in this episode).
Also, who knew that Lady Gaga was playing in this episode? I don’t think I really knew her music when this first aired, so on the rewatch, I was a bit amazed that she was playing at the party during Echo’s first engagement of the episode.
All in all a pretty good episode. Much better ones are coming up, but we have to slog some crap to get there first.
