The Target shows us how Boyd came to the Dollhouse. Well, at least how we think he came to the Dollhouse. It’s interesting, knowing what happens in season 2, how he first interacts with Echo as he is set up as her handler.
The “shoulder to the wheel” is of course corny and over the top, but serves to show that Echo is remembering. Kind of dumb, yes, but these are the episodes when FOX was in charge, not Joss, so I guess we have to go with it.
And of course, more information comes forward about Alpha and his composite event. It’s nice to see a story arc being put together at least with Alpha and Echo, even if the rest of these first episodes are just “monster of the week” episodes.
We also are introduced to Mellie for the first time in this episode, again, I was smiling, knowing what I do. She’s one of my favorite characters, and her showing up with lasagna, waiting for Ballard, was always a highlight for me.
