And again, if you haven’t seen it, go see The Muppets:
Facebook has announced a new anti-suicide help tool. Pretty awesome! Although there are so many status updates that are just lyrics, this will be tough to work out:
Google has their annual recap of the year. Not going to lie, tears rolling down my cheeks by the end (for all kinds of reasons, although some aren’t shown in the video, but more on that tomorrow):
This story is for all who love Randall, and if you haven’t, make sure you check out his horoscope hotline, a bunch of us call it every morning at work. And by the way, Honeybadger doesn’t give a shit, just in case you forgot.
Remember the shooting spree at the summer camp in Europe? Check out this string of text messages between a girl on the island and her mom. Touching and amazing.
Myths Retold is pretty awesome, although each one is long, so I sadly don’t read it as much as I should. But here is one of my favorites, A Midsummer Night’s Dream
Here’s a cool time-lapse of the front page of the New York Time’s webpage through the years:
And winner of irony goes to this story. I haven’t done much on Google+ because not many of my friends are on it yet, but this just makes me want to hug everyone at Google.
Quick update for everyone. First up, the Last Supper…from Star Wars nerds?
I’m taking away points for not having blue milk on the table.
And speaking of Star Wars, watch this awesome VW commercial:

Morgan Spurlock is trying to reimagine Times Square with no ads. But really, it’s a lot of work. But I imagine some of the touched up images will become ads themselves with creative use of the textures.
I am, also really excited about this game:
And speaking of awesome video games, I am so incredibly excited that this is coming out in five days (I had no idea!):
Google has a new project that uses a Street View type interface, but instead, goes through art galleries. I’ll be checking it out later.
First he didn’t understand how the tides work, now he’s confused about the moon. More proof (like we needed any) that Bill O’Reilly is a fucking retard. And I use that phrase out of respect to Stephen Corbert’s wishes. One of the people in the comments hit it spot on though:
The difference between O’Reilley and a scientist is, the scientist says, “I don’t know, let’s find out.” and O’Reilley says, “I don’t know, therefore God must have done it.”
I liked the idea of the bills getting larger as the amounts increased, and I like the style, but I don’t think these new bills (created for a contest, not official) would be able to have enough security features to be used.
Pittsburgh is going to be producing a zombie opera! I’m really excited and hope that I’ll be able to go!
Really awesome: Wabash College is including the game Portal as part of required items during the Freshmen year. Really awesome to see video games used like this and respected.
That’s it for right now, but I’ll be back soon with more, have a great one!
Hey everybody, couple big updates on the way, starting with this one. I’m going through a whole bunch of stuff, so some will be a bit old, but all still really cool! Hope you enjoy!
Did you know that you can use bacon to track the economy? Yeah, we might use bacon for too much at this point.
Are you concerned about genetically modified food? You shouldn’t be, we have blenders that will hep us test them! Slate explains.
Want to make your own laundry detergent really cheap? Here’s a recipe. I’ve heard good things about this, but have yet to try it.
I’ve always says that the internet can (and usually is) a force for good. And 4chan proves me right once again:
This is old news, but good nonetheless, now it’s legal to “jailbreak” your phone. You know, the one that you own!
Once tablets get more and more popular, we’ll see this more often, which I’m sure would make it easier to keep menus updated, as well as save a lot of paper:
Need a primer on the whole Glen Beck is trying to swindle his viewers out of money out of greed and stupidity? Check it out here.
Anne Rice isn’t a Christian anymore! I guess I would care if I ever read any of her stuff. But her reasoning is sound I suppose, but I would always say find a church that fits you. They’re out there.
I finally got the tote bag I was waiting for (I saw them, but they weren’t for sale yet), and it is a Leave No Trace bag (how fitting). Here’s a fun mockumentary about why plastic bags aren’t exactly great for us:
Overdressed for the occasion, a man who not only lacked the mandatory skanky hoodie but was all spiffed up in a white dress shirt and slacks made an extremely literal beer run at an Alliance Road stop ’n’ rob. That is, he snabbed an 18-pack of The King of Bland Beers and scurried out the door.
But then we find that sometimes they are written as limericks!
A car parked ’twixt striping of blue Had nothing whatever to do With handicapped access Cops thought what it lacks is A ticket, and also a clue.
That’s it for now, but I’ll try to be back later in the week with some more. Have a great one!
On Monday, Google and Verizon proposed a new legislative framework for net neutrality. Reaction to the proposal has been swift and, for the most part, highly critical. While we agree with many aspects of that criticism, we are interested in the framework’s attempt to grapple with the Trojan Horse problem. The proposed solution: a narrow grant of power to the FCC to enforce neutrality within carefully specified parameters. While this solution is not without its own substantial dangers, we think it deserves to be considered further if Congress decides to legislate.
Unfortunately, the same document that proposed this intriguing idea also included some really terrible ideas. It carves out exemptions from neutrality requirements for so-called “unlawful” content, for wireless services, and for very vaguely-defined “additional online services.” The definition of “reasonable network management” is also problematically vague. As many, many, many have already pointed out, these exemptions threaten to completely undermine the stated goal of neutrality.
The FCC had been trying to move forward, but was not fast enough, and this is what’s happening:
Google and Verizon, two leading players in Internet service and content, are nearing an agreement that could allow Verizon to speed some online content to Internet users more quickly if the content’s creators are willing to pay for the privilege.
Quick update here, I hope everyone had a fun and safe New Year’s Eve!
Speaking of, I wish I could have posted this yesterday for everyone. But you know maybe for everyone celebrating Orthodox New Year’s…wait, what?
Best thing I found out during the holidays: Pita Chips are awesome! Why did I not know about these before?
Good gravy, is Google really trying to break into gaming now? And while it makes sense for them to be in casual games (Remember I posted earlier this year about Popcap games inside WoW), this is getting a bit much. But hey, if they go in, and so does Apple, which has been rumored for years and I don’t think it will happen, won’t that be a nice little fun grouping of companies: Nintendo, Microsoft, Sony, Apple and Google.
I’ve never read or seen anything to do with Twilight. But to those who have, does this about sum New Moon up?
This is a pretty cool site, and I think I could spend a lot of time looking up words, but hey, I’ll be learning stuff in the process!
And finally, what I actually originally was going to post, the biggest 25 pop songs from last year, mashed up into one amazing track.
That’s it for now, I’m hoping to do two big posts this weekend (really though, if I get one of them done, I’ll consider it a success). Have a great one everybody!
