Today's Mighty Oak

Alright, let’s see what we have today, little bit of a video heavy one, but let’s go with it!

For Star Wars Day, Heathrow added flights to destinations in the Star Wars galaxy to their boards.

In good news, Ireland is looking to prosecute practitioners of gay conversion torture.

The trailer for POSE looks so good:

Spoilers for Infinity War, but here’s a great break down of the real villain.

In that vein, want to see if you survived the final events of Infinity War?  Click here.  Spoiler, I didn’t make it.

Also related: straight people shouldn’t write about gay ‘culture’ if they don’t know what they’re talking about.  Bad NYTimes.

The music video for Deadpool 2 is amazing:

It’s a little heavy handed, but good on AIG and the All Blacks for these awesome new jerseys!

Two classic Mega Man games are being re-released….on cartridges!

I ran the marathon a few weeks ago and had a blast!  I talked with the guy filming this, but we didn’t make it in, but still a really cool video!

Required reading: Dan Savage eviscerates a gay republican and it’s so perfect.

Also, conservatives are sad because people don’t like them.  If I wasn’t busy trying to save the world, I still wouldn’t give a shit.

Arrested Development is coming back for season 5, and I’m so, so excited:

That’s it for now (hopefully these video links work, Youtube was acting strange for me), have a great one!

Alright, update for everyone, heavy on the videos, but I hope you enjoy them all:

First up, a fan-made trailer for a Mega Man movie.  It takes a while to pick up, but not bad for less than $1,000:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kZ2NA–PFbE

Scientists are working on new self-healing materials that use the energy from the sun to repair themselves, pretty amazing!

I just finished reading the Hunger Games Trilogy, and it was awesome, now I need to go see the movie.  In the meantime though, here is a trailer for The Hipster Games:

The NYT covers addictive digital games, pretty awesome.

Big stuff from Google with their augmented reality glasses, and the inevitable remake of it:

Also from Google, they’ve been working on using Street Maps technology in museums around the world, now they’ve shot the interior of the White House:

So…Santorum is crazy.  For a while, he was campaigning on a platform of outlawing porn.  I was talking with a friend this week, a speaker brought into her work place was also known for going on tirades about pornography.  And we all agree, it’s a case of “He who doth protest too much…”  But anyway, in response, porn stars (ahem, hard, ahem, working Americans who would be put out of work) came together to make a video in protest:

One of my favorite church signs, going viral:

And lastly, holy crap, you know people are stretching when they want to protest Desmund Tutu.  I saw him speak at my church, and the man is amazing and a living saint.  If you ever have the chance to listen to him lecture, please do, you will not regret it, I promise.

That’s it for now, thanks everyone, have a great one!

Quick update for everyone.  First up, enjoy this awesome orchestrated version of the Mega Man 2 theme:

Clintus posted this to his blog, and it’s strangely profound:

Did you know that Herman Cain is running to be the president of Sim City?  Maxis’ response is priceless, although I wish they would have added “reticulating splines”:

We encourage politicians to continue to look to innovative games like SimCity for inspiration for social and economic change,” said Katsarelis. “While we at Maxis and Electronic Arts do not endorse any political candidates or their platforms, it’s interesting to see GOP candidate Herman Cain propose a simplified tax system like one we designed for the video game SimCity 4.”

Adopting such a simple tax structure, Katsarelis said, would allow fantasy political leaders to focus their energy on infrastructure and national security. “Our game design team thought that an easy to understand taxation system would allow players to focus on building their cities and have fun thwarting giant lizard attacks, rather than be buried by overly complex financial systems.”

Here’s the actual trailer for the Muppets Movie:

The comments with this Occupy Madison Avenue flyer are awesome.  Seriously, who still uses Lotus notes, and no I will not make the logo bigger.

And here’s a great video from Occupy Seattle:

I kind of want to make this cable manager, it’s an AT-AT from Star Wars!

Once again, Benstonium hits it out of the park (I know wrong sport metaphor):

Alright, a more media heavy update today, but some cool stuff to pass along.

First up, this video was filmed backwards.  You’ll understand when you see it, and it’s pretty cool:

Faith finally finished her article about Women in Scouting, specifically at Scout camp.  Check it out here.

It looks as though Slate’s year end Gaming Club has finished up, although I kind of remember them coming to the same conclusion last year.  Still a great series, even if they don’t talk about some of the games I think they should have.

I might have been having a lot of fun with this link, just keep clicking to see what you get.  Because Joe Lieberman wants you dead (.com)

Even more than the previous link, this makes me so incredibly happy.  The rest of the world must really think the U.S. is bat-shit crazy.  Honestly, if I was not living here, I would just be laughing at how stupid this congressman is.  Not only for doing what he did, but also for having the balls to go the conference, try to pull together a press conference even when our government is in the building behind him trying to work with other counties from around the world.  Good frickin’ grief.

If you need something to make you smile, check out the trailer for Mega Man 10:

Did you know you can check your weather and put it in Star Wars terms?  Currently, we’re at Hoth.

The Stranger has run this “new” column a couple times, and honestly, it makes me laugh each time, especially the second letter:

And to end (much shorter post than I thought), here is just a creepy, creepy PSA from CBS.  Good sentiment, but still strange:

That’s it for now, have a great one everybody!
