Today's Mighty Oak

When the snow it was falling/the neon was calling

So I've been listening to Christmas music a lot, becasue I love it.  Mostly TSO (Tran-Siberian Orchestra) at the moment.  I think my favorite song is "Old City Bar."  I just realized tonight two things about the song which I didn't understand earlier:

1. The line "and he said, 'J.F.K.' " is a reference to the airport (which means the song takes place in NYC, which also means number 2)
2. The whole CD, and performance if you see them live (which combines three CDs), is a story, and the girl which was missing from a previous song, ran away to NYC.  I knew she got back to see her father for Christmas, and knew this song was about her, but never knew where she went, since I didn't understand the J.F.K. thing, which makes the Angel's path easier to understand.

From the light that she had wished upon…

If you want to arrange it
this world you can change it
and we could somehow
make this Christmas-thing last

by helping a neighbor
even a stranger
to kno wwho needs help
you need only just ask

Things continue here, I've been applying for some jobs, I'm really excited about the one in Upper St. Clair (except for the location), hopefully it comes through.

Things are still settling down from the funeral, we're all doing ok I guess.  I'm working on a design so we can order mugs for Christmas gifts (when I get that done, I'll try to post it).  I've been reading a lot, and in a Harry Potter book (book of analysis, not the books themselves…I know, I'm a big dork) it discusses how grandfather clocks are infamous for stopping when someone dies in literature.  I had a real hard time reading that, because of what happened with the clock at my grandparents.  I'm the only one in the family who has expressed an interest in it (I'd love to have it in my house when I move out), but now I'm kind of leery.

Eh, back to insomnia-filled, allergy-ridden sleepless nights!
