Today's Mighty Oak

Just a quick note, I finally figured out how to get the photo galleries how I want them!  It will take me a little bit of time to get them all moved in, but I should be able to get into a rhythm pretty quickly.  For now, you can head over here (and it’s linked in the menu above) and see some classic galleries, and I’ll be working my way to present day!  The ordering of some of the older galleries isn’t perfect, but it’s good enough for me!

I migrated over to a new CMS, but in the meantime, I’m trying to tidy things up around here.  All the posts came over, but all my previously unpublished posts from outside sources (Metblogs and Global Entropy) all published at the same time, erasing their original dates.

I’m also working on getting my portfolio in a better order, but that will be a work in progress.  But for now, things mainly seem to be working, so let’s go with that for now and I’ll keep working to get things back in proper order!

Just a quick note to let everyone know, I’m working on some site upgrades, so over the next few weeks, it will be even more wonky than normal.  It’s been acting up for a while, so I’m hoping to fix everything with a good clean install, it’s just moving the database over as well.  Wish me luck, and hopefully soon you’ll get to see a flashy new site!

Just a quick note, you’re now able to (once again) add comments to blog posts and news items (like this one).

You don’t have to make a profile here, and all you need to make a comment is your name.  I’m still trying to get it to integrate with Facebook, Twitter, and all the rest, but for now, it works really easily, so feel free to add your thoughts!

Good gravy, here we go again, another big update to Joomla, the software that runs the site.  Let’s see if I can break it this time!

Update: Everything seems to be running okay.  Still have some things to work out behind the scenes, but you shouldn’t see any changes!

It’s once again that time, where I try not to break everything as I upgrade to the latest version of Joomla.  This time, there will be a couple of upgrades at once.  I’m not sure what it will look like when it’s done.  So let’s find out!  There will be some things not working, I’m sure, but I’ll squash whatever bugs I can find along the way.  Hold tight!

Update: Well, it’s updated.  Still have a lot of stuff to work out, including the template, which is always the biggest pain.  But I did expect that.  Hang tight, and I should be back up and running in no time.

Strange things are afoot, I can’t get the second half of my blog post to update, I’ll be working on it more tonight and tomorrow, so stay tuned!

Update: Bug squashed!  Have no idea why it wasn’t working, but an image was breaking everything.  Now we’re good!

The topic for the 2010 Blog Action Day was just announced: Water:

Just a quick note, I’ve added World Cup widgets to the sidebar on the main page, as well as over on the blogs.  The first will follow Ghana, who I pulled in our World Cup pool at D’s, the second will follow the U.S.  And on that note, congrats to the U.S. for their draw and Ghana for their win (first for any African country in this year’s tournament)!
