I’ll be back later, with a couple of things. First, I’m rewatching the entirety of Dollhouse, I’ll be putting down some thoughts about each episode, just for funsies. Also, I should be back later with another regular post, but I wanted to get some things put up here that I found here.
First up, here’s the debut trailer for The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword:
So, sometimes I forgot how much of a sucker I am for a good strings section. With that in mind, I give you the latest video from the Goo Goo Dolls for “NotBroken”
Check out this amazing article about why video games should have their own dedicated Grammy. “Baba Yetu” is amazing, although the live duet version from VGL is even better:
Tim Burton is set to do a new Hunchback movie! That remains my all time favorite Disney movie, and I’d actually really like to read the book, so I’m interested in this.
Big thanks to The Onion who ran this amazing piece about the President telling the Department of Justice to stop defending section 3 of DOMA:
Marauding Gay Hordes Drag Thousands Of Helpless Citizens From Marriages After Obama Drops Defense Of Marriage Act
WASHINGTON—Reports continue to pour in from around the nation today of helpless Americans being forcibly taken from their marital unions after President Obama dropped the Defense of Marriage Act earlier this week, leaving the institution completely vulnerable to roving bands of homosexuals.
I forgot to mention that we just passed the 25th anniversary of The Legend of Zelda! IGN has a cool feature up about it, so I guess I’ll have to go and finish Twilight Princess and Spirit Tracks!
First up, a couple social media updates. First, the person responsible for the Red Cross’ twitter feed tweeted under that account, when he thought it was his personal account. The result actually was a ton of people pledged to donate blood with some help from Dog Fish Beer. Pretty cool to read about how a company dealt well with a faux pas.
And to follow up, Slog links to two maps: one here, the other here, to help you track the revolutions of the Middle East.
We went out last night for a friend’s birthday, and what has become somewhat of a tradition, there was a lot of Bacon on Dana’s fries. So in honor of that, I give you this amazing chart.
Take a look at this, it’s really cool to watch. I’m pretty sure I’ve seen an older version of this as a TED talk, but this is way cooler:
I have a bunch of stuff to pass on, but I cut the tip of my index finger, so typing is strange, at best. I’ll see what I can do, but I should be back soon with the rest of what I have (unless work does in fact manage to kill me this week).
If you truly believe that labor unions are so evil and/or unnecessary—indeed, un-American—then why don’t you volunteer to give up all the rights and benefits the labor movement has won for working Americans over the past 140 years? You know, little things like the 8-hour workday, weekends, paid overtime, paid sick, holiday and vacation days, child labor laws, workplace safety, workers compensation for on-job injuries, unemployment insurance, health care insurance, maternity leave and family medical leave… not to mention the minimum wage, Social Security, and Medicare, plus a whole lot of other things I’m probably forgetting.
Go ahead, give those things up. Because without organized labor, you wouldn’t have any of those rights or benefits in the first place.
In honor of President’s Day, Nerve has ranked the Presidents and First Ladies in terms of sexiness. You should easily be able to guess who tops the First Lady list, but, points for this description of number 28:
Abigail Adams was not the ugliest first lady, by any means. Just frighteningly severe and voted most likely to “cut a bitch.”
What if the Mississippi River was really a transit map? This is really cool, although I was sad to see the Yough wasn’t listed.
Also, I’m really excited that the Scottish Deer Hound won Westminster! I saw it for the first time on Thanksgiving and think it’s a really cool dog!
Thank you James Earl Jones, for everything:

Okay, let’s play a game with youtube. Of the two following movie trailers, one is for a “Direct to YouTube” movie. The other is a trailer for a Porn. See if you can tell them apart:
Facebook is a strange, strange place. One of the current annoying trends is people posting on their wall and asking others to pass it on, about how 3% will repost. This tactic has been used for good causes, things like soldiers and fighting cancer, funny things, Browns fans, and stupid thing, people that need to be punched in the face.
Last week, one of the bartenders posted an anti LGBT bullying message.
I was extremely grateful. One truth that I’ve learned, is that it’s hardest to come out to those you care about the most: you have more to lose, the stakes are higher.
I don’t really care about acquaintances, co-workers (aside from the fact that I would lose my job) or family (my close family I know will love me no matter what). But I’m really worried about a couple close friends, I don’t want to lose them, I care about them. So it was nice to be reminded that I’ll still have a seat at the bar, and still have a friend to drink with (and watch Wipeout with).
Maybe it’s a turning point, maybe I can relax a bit, or at least, be in a better place.
A quick story about how I gain some sick pleasure:
For my birthday last year my boss got me an iTunes gift card since he always sees me with earphones in. Which was very nice of him, he certainly did not need to do that. Nor was I going to lament that it was a gift card for iTunes, and I have a Zune (also, iTunes is one of the most bloated programs, ever, but I digress).
I was going to download “The Onion: Future News” but as it turned out, that is now free, so instead I downloaded a new CD from a friend of mine. Sadly, I usually can’t make it to his shows, but he is talented, so I was happy to support him. This left me with $4 and some change, which I’ll be slowly working down.
One track I purchased with that left over credit: a new remix of “We Belong,” the proceeds of which are directly supporting the Trevor Project, a charity which supports LGBT youth.
