Today's Mighty Oak

Alright, let’s see what we have today, a bit of a longer update, and lots of videos:

Because it’s a shit show, the president’s newest judicial nominee thinks trans* kids are part of ‘Satan’s plan.’

In the spirit of Halloween, the Internet thinks that Pennywise and the Babbadook should date.  Awwwww.

The new Wes Anderson movie:

Need a game to play to unwind?  Play some font games!

Pittsburgh gets its own Drag Queen Story Hour!

Netflix sends an awesome “Stranger Things” cease and desist letter.

Birds made into a musical composition:

David S. Pumpkins will return!

Billy Crystal is right, Miracle Max and Valerie do need their own spin off!

The new trailer for The Punisher is intense:

Wesley Woods is interviewed about him calling out the white privilege of a certain gay porn actor.

The Satanic Temple is amazing.  They have announced that if the current prevails and bakers can deny gay couples wedding cakes, they’ll demand cakes for Satan.  Because religious freedom.

You guys, the floor is lava.  No really, THE FLOOR IS LAVA:

In good news, the US Census will add back in a question about sexual orientation, reversing the decision to effectively erase LGBT citizens (and any possibility of funding for resources).

The superintendent at an Air Force prep school said, in no uncertain terms, that racism has no place in his school.

I don’t have Amazon Prime, but I listen to this podcast, I’m super excited it’s being turned into a show:

Edie Windsor, who recently died, was known for her fight for marriage equality.  But she was also a computer science whiz!

An Australian pizza shop trolls the anti-gay billboard next to it.  However, I disagree, pineapple can go on pizza!

This is the trailer for a zombie Christmas musical that legit looks amazing:

Russell Tovey, of Looking, fame, will play The Ray in the Arrowverse.

Dale Hansen, sportcaster from Texas known for his amazing viral videos, does it again.

The federal government is set to argue that gay workers should not have any workplace protections, although they’ll be arguing this against other parts of the federal government.  This is a hugely important case, and one that I’m worried about.

That’s it for now, have a great one!

Alright, let’s see what we have today.  First up, a beautiful look at Pluto!

Hyperloop One had it’s first test run, and it looks really cool!

Eli Lieb’s new song:

There is a new AR Star Wars resort coming to Disney, and I really want to go!  In other Star Wars news, a fake study about midichlorians made it into four scientific journals.

Would you like to dance like David Bowie?  From Labyrinth?  Of course you do!

In a huge blow, the new administration is arguing that federal protections do not apply to LGBT workers.  This was an absolutely huge win during the Obama administration, so this is a tough loss.

The Catholic Church: still a hate group.  Now a bishop has said that gay men won’t get last rights or funerals.

And finally, an awesome behind the scenes peak at Star Wars: The Last Jedi:

That’s it for today, have a great one!

Alright, let’s see what we have today.  First up, Run For Your Lives is coming up.  I did it last year as a zombie and it’s a great time, if you want to join me as a zombie (or meet up afterwards at the party), let me know:

Jimmy Carter has a great essay about equality.

Robyn Miller talked about Myst at this year’s GDC.  A good friend was at the talk and sent me notes right after it ended and I am forever jealous.  Forever.

I saw this on Facebook, and giggled.  You know, since I’m five:

So far, I’ve been as impressed as I can be with the new Pope.  He’s even reached out specifically to the Church of England, and it rumored that he will be the honorary chair of the 2018 Lambeth Conference (although honestly, those are contentious enough as it is, it may cause a lot of added drama).  Guess we’ll have to see what the new Archbishop of Canturbery will do as well.

The man who is Virginia’s attorney general, and running for Governor, is arguing that sodomy should remain illegal in their state.  And just so you know, even though anti-sodomy laws have been struck down by the Supreme Court because they were only used to invade the privacy and prosecute the LGBT community, it technically is any non procreative sex.  Strangely, he won’t answer any questions about his own sex life when asked, you know, just to see if he’s complying with the laws he’s fighting to keep on the books.

And lastly, awesome video showcasing music from the Legend of Zelda:

Alright, let’s see what we have today.  First up:

TNT is back with their stunts:

Musical port-a-potties.  Yes, you read that right.

Recordings are being made of Holocaust survivors, via hologram.  This is a great idea.

Physics defying amusement park:

Pantone color puns

Check out Google’s new offices in Tel Aviv, pretty awesome.

Lego’s pop culture riddles

A pen that tells you when you made a mistake.

External airbags to protect cyclists.

A museum is using special light bulbs to transmit data to people’s phones:

Ordering snow via your phone (for Christmas)

This is a cool idea: bringing the beach into your office.

Beautiful wood cityscapes:

Sculptures that appear only when viewed in cylindrical mirrors

And finally, real life Mario Kart:

Let’s see what I have today.  First up, the track sampler of Mika’s new album:

If you haven’t donated yet, there is still time to donate to help build a Tesla museum.

ManMadeDIY has an awesome post of funny WiFi network names (click through for more):

Pretty ingenious, although I’m sure it will be obsolete (I’m hoping to be able to record a hologram of myself), QR codes on gravestones.

A fun beer commercial:

And my favorite post from This Advertising Life this week!

First up, the latest episode of the Flog, which includes a mini Buffy Season 8 reunion, and an ode to Carrie Fisher:

io9 explains, why you should wear black (if it’s the proper type of fabric at least) this summer.  Hat tip to Becky for passing that one one.

Fifth Avenue Frogger:

Ragan has 10 of the coolest products you never realized Google had.

America’s tourism board released this ad which is showing around the world and domestically.  Pretty cool, although I’m not falling head over heels for the song, but it’s sill cool.  The sky diver with the hawk is amazing!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bcfbdiiEQDM

That’s it for now, I”ll be back soon with more, have a great one!

Couple things to pass on today, let’s see what I’ve found:

First up, FreddeGredde is back with a new compilation, this time of video game music:

Copyranter takes a look at the Polo logo in the future:

Maddow Blog takes on the argument that the federal budget is the same as a household budget.

And in her latest Random n’at, Ginny (today’s title comes from That’s Church) has the best fake album art ever (fake band too):

That’s it for today, have a great one!

Another quick update for you. First up, open this link and play this song in the background for the next hour.  It’s the theme from Jurassic Park slowed down 1000 times (but kept at the same pitch)

Check out these awesome images of a “cloud tsunami

Today (or at least in ten minutes), is National Darwin Day!  Hooray!

Want to bet on the National Dog Show?  One, you probably have a gambling problem, two, Slate has you covered on who to bet on.

Want hot soup delivered to you each week (in Pittsburgh)?  City Paper profiles a new business, pretty awesome!

And finally, I’ve never heard of National Geographic’s Director of Adventure, but I want it, so I can have this office:

I’m waiting for Dropbox on my work computer to download about 1,000 more pictures, so while that goes, I figured I’d pop over here and do a quick entry, hope you enjoy!

First up, some music:

Here’s a cool article in The Stranger about a Lebanese artist, defying the government to create his art.

Sadly, it looks like SOPA will rear it’s ugly head again in February, politicians and the MPAA hoping enough people will have forgotten by then.

A creative entry into the Shit [blank] Says meme:

Awesome art project that is being installed down route 75 here’s a favorite:

That’s it for now, but I’ll be back with more soon!

Bigger update for everyone, hope you enjoy.

First up, please don’t die:

A really good ad, it even made copyranter tear up a bit:

Check out the Earthscraper, an underground skyscraper.  On a related note, I’ve been playing SimTower, I forgot how much I love that game!

In case you didn’t see it before, Joey quits:

This comes from Hazeltown, Pa.  People disgust me.  And why did the editors think this was okay to run?

Apparently, there is a correlation (not a cause) between the number of Facebook friends you have and the size of parts of your brain.  Strange.

Amazing video for cover-up, featuring zombie-boy from the Born This Way video:

Here’s the “list of demands” for the Zelda Symphony Orchestra concerts, it’s funny.

Just a quick comparison for you:

And check out the Brewed on Grant response to Occupy Pittsburgh, it’s fantastic.

Do you knit?  Penguins need your help!

Need a hat?  And a beard?  Check it out:

A couple more things coming later, have a great one!
